I mostly paint with oils in my studio using my own photography as inspiration, allowing bold colors and gestures to bring my perception of the environment to life. My practice is therefore part adventure and field study and part rhyming colors and shapes from the collected information into landscapes and abstract forms of nature.
While I paint from photographs, I am less concerned with realism or accuracy than I am portraying the 6th sense of perception with the paint. Painting, to me, is the resulting task of living a life with overwhelming attention to subtle patterns, optical phenomena, and an obsession with nature.
