Irish Studies
This collection of work results from my semester abroad at the Burren College of Art in Balleyvaughan Ireland. An incredible and wild place to live for a few months and a big part of my history and heritage. It was a privilege to get to know the land and the energy through my art. During my time there I created oil paintings, photographed the landscape digitally and with a pinhole camera I made from a syrup can, and played with source photography in Photoshop. It is a truly magical place. The sound of rain will always take me back there, the butterflies hide in the darkroom for warmth, and orchids grow out of a hidden water table beneath the rocky cliffs. Nighttime is the quietest I’ve ever heard the earth and the stars the brightest I’d ever seen. Enchanted ancient structures scatter the land from a time long ago. What a beautiful ecosystem for an artist.
