Experimental Replication Series
This series results from discovering my favorite way of working, which evolved into two different processes. I fell in love with the thrill of mixing materials that are light-sensitive or impermanent, fragile or temporary, to create a dimensional assemblage or image that embodies the risk, rarity, and freshness outside the limits of what is archival. No rules apply, the freedom accessed through this method of creation is pure play. The next process is to recreate the experiment with oil paint, which poses a unique set of challenges to start with rather than the impending doom of a blank white canvas. To match the qualities of the original experiment I painted on canvas, wood, metal, and plexiglass, and replicated the range of abstract creations with detailed rendering and calculated paint pouring.
